Foundations in Christian Ministry introduces students to the heart, character, and practice of Christian ministry through theological reflections and best practices in the key areas. The course invites students to wrestle honestly with the joys and tensions of serving Christ and His people — exploring what it means to do be someone engaged in Christian ministry both in church and in marketplaces, and some competency areas in which to grow.
Across six sessions, students will engage key biblical and ministry themes such as calling, leadership, teamwork, rest, perseverance, and dependence on the Holy Spirit. Through instruction by experienced ministry practitioners, using theological exposition, case studies and discussion, guided reflection and practical exercises, the course seeks to lay the groundwork to shape ministers for a lifetime of faithful service, in humility, resilience, and integrity — not out of self-sufficiency, but out of deep communion with Christ.
