A study of 1 & 2 Corinthians will show how the church in Corinth met with controversial problems that have a very modern ring: conflicts within the church, moral failure, sexual identity, spiritual elitism, theological heresy, and failed financial pledge. This course, together with visual presentation, will investigate how the social and cultural world of the ancient city of Corinth influenced and impacted the church. We will draw insights on how we should respond to our world today in relation to issues such as divisions and abuses in the church, sexuality and gender, suffering, generosity–real issues that Paul addresses in these two letters. This course will help us read the Bible with fresh insights and appreciate the relevance of God’s word in our life and ministry.
