Course Description

This course explores the theological, pastoral, and practical aspects of ageing and end-of-life- issues from a Christian perspective. Students will examine biblical views on ageing, develop skills for ministering to older adults, and address ethical considerations in end-of-life care.

The course aims to equip students with both theological, theoretical knowledge and hands-on skills for effective ministry to the elderly.

Instructor(s)

Susan Chan is a Bible teacher, adjunct college professor, itinerant preacher, conference speaker, and corporate trainer. Her scholarly interests include researching the topic of positive aging, which culminated in her doctoral thesis titled “Ageing Positively and the Role of the Church.” She earned her Doctor of Ministry degree from AGST, reflecting her commitment to both academic excellence and practical ministry.
A guest lecturer at STM, teaching modules like Basic Counselling, Bereavement Care, & Spiritual Formation. She retired from STM as the English TEE director in 2019. Her ministry experience includes over 30 years of pastoral care and church planting. Today, she mentors workers directly involved in pioneering churches at Kuching. Dr Wong is also a DMin thesis supervisor with AGST- Alliance and the author of “Walking through Grief.” Another passion of hers is ministering to believers in need of wholeness and conducting private spiritual retreats. She currently serves LifeCare team at Sg. Way Subang Methodist Church.
